The iconic British darts-themed quiz show Bullseye is poised for a comeback on ITV, with Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff tipped to be the new host.

Reports suggest that Flintoff will step into the shoes of the beloved late comedian Jim Bowen to present a festive edition of the show, which originally ran from 1981 to 1995.

Speaking to the Sun newspaper, Flintoff, aged 46, said: "I love the darts and Bullseye was one of my favourite shows as a kid. I can't quite believe I'll get to host this Christmas special."

He also paid homage to the original host by saying, "You can't beat a bit of Bully," mirroring Bowen's famous catchphrase.

Flintoff recently featured in a BBC documentary titled Freddie Flintoff's Field Of Dreams On Tour in August, where he discussed a harrowing crash during Top Gear filming.

The accident, which occurred at Dunsfold Aerodrome's test track in Surrey in December 2022, resulted in facial and rib injuries for the ex-England cricketer. Following the incident, the BBC decided to put Top Gear on hold indefinitely.

In the documentary, Flintoff revealed the psychological impact of the crash, admitting to ongoing anxiety, nightmares, and flashbacks, stating it had been "a lot harder than I thought" to overcome.

Despite these challenges, Flintoff has gradually returned to the limelight, rejoining England's cricket team as part of the backroom staff for their T20 series against the West Indies earlier this year and taking on the role of head coach for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.

Bullseye combines darts prowess with general knowledge, as contestants vie for cash and prizes. The game show was brought back on Challenge TV in 2006, with comedian Dave Spikey at the helm, but it was axed after just two series.
