BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans stunned by star's 'vicious' Chris McCausland dig

by · Manchester Evening News

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left open-mouthed when Toyah Wilcox seemingly took a dig at Chris McCausland. The singer appeared on It Takes Two for her first interview since being eliminated from the content with dance partner Neil Jones.

The BBC One dance show returned to screens over the weekend with its spectacular Movie Week special before the second dance-off and elimination of the series took place.

The latest results show saw Toyah and Neil dance-off against former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson and his partner Karen Hauer Sunday night (October 6) with both couples having to reprise their Movie Week performances before the judges cast their votes.

Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke all chose to save Paul and Karen, automatically sending Toyah and Neil home, with head judge Shirley Ballas then agreeing she would also have saved the former England international.

Toyah and Neil have now appeared on Monday night’s episode of Strictly spin-off It Takes Two to discuss their time on the show and share their feelings about their early exit.

Speaking to host Fleur East, 1980s singer-songwriter, Toyah said she was “gutted” to be leaving the show, but was not going to let her early departure blight the "fantastic time" she had. She added: "I was not off first, which meant a lot to me. I’ve had the most brilliant life-affirming experience in the last two months, I’m in a good place."

Professional dancer Neil told Toyah that he was going to remain in contact "for life" now after they had had "so much fun" and laughter during rehearsals. "We’ve had really great conversations as well, and it was so nice to hear you’ve been waiting so long to do the show and it’s brilliant when she came to the show and she asked for me, that meant a lot to me," he added.

When asked by Fleur what advice or tips she had for the other celebrities, the It’s A Mystery singe laughed and clapped, then pointed to the camera and said: "If you don’t want to do a dance-off, get rid of Chris!"

Neil and Fleur then seemed to share a surprised glance as Toyah collapsed into her pro partner’s lap in a fit of laughter. Toyah then clarified: "You’re all going to have to face a dance off," while Neil joked: "I think she has chosen her winner already."

But the comment didn't go down well with It Takes Two viewers. @missyousomuch asked: "Did I just hear right Toyah on ITT??? You could hear a pin drop in the studio!!!" @maxbiddle98 fumed: "That was such a nasty dig Toyah just made at Chris. Malicious, vicious and jealous."

@andytbrg questioned: "Toyah? What was that about?" @jubblyjob added: "Toyah was a bit mean about Chris on It Takes Two."
