Vernon Kay makes fans double take as they spot Tess Daly as she 'can't believe' personal update

Vernon Kay left his fans doing a double take as they thought he'd shared a picture of himself and wife Tess Daly on social media. The pair were celebrating this week as they marked their eldest daughter's birthday.

Phoebe left her teens behind on Wednesday (October 16) as she turned 20 and her famous parents, who also share youngest daughter Amber, 14, were keen to gush over their first-born.

Taking to Instagram, BBC Radio 2 host Vernon posted a stunning picture of himself and Phoebe taken during a joint photoshoot earlier this year as well as an adorable photo of them together when Phoebe was a youngster.

Captioning the post, the Bolton-born star wrote in view of his 898,000 followers: "20yrs of Happiness! Happy Birthday @phoebekay___ Love Ya so much."

Tess was quick to respond to the post, writing: "We LOVE YOU Phoebe. Can’t believe you’re 20!" But his fans and followers were quick to respond, with many of them having to look twice as they thought it was Vernon and his Strictly Come Dancing host wife in the image.

Happy birthday." @sorrentoheart posted: "Gosh she is like her Mum. Happy birthday." @shazibe_just_shazibe_ added: "Gosh she's her mummas double."

Meanwhile, Tess also took to her own Instagram page with a beaming photo of her lookalike daughter from when she hit the red carpet with her parents. There were also pictures of the trio together before the broadcaster shared picture of Phoebe now and when she was younger.

"20 YEARS of loving you @phoebekay___ Can’t wait to celebrate your birthday with you," she captioned the post shared with her 869,000 followers.

It comes after Vernon joked that he is often shouted at by Tess and their two daughters for not being as sympathetic as they are to him, when they're unwell.

Speaking on his BBCR2 show on Tuesday (October 14), the 50-year-old told his co-star Richie Anderson that he was almost finally "through the other side" of his illness, after weeks of feeling rough. Quizzed on whether he received sympathy from his wife and daughters, Vernon praised their compassionate ways.

He shared: "I've got to say that when I am poorly, they treat me like a King my girls, they really do. Sometimes I get shouted at because it's not reciprocated, I think is the right word. You know, I apologise on a regular basis, so yeah, there you go, they really do look after me."
