Emmerdale's Moira 'framed' for sheep death - as fans 'work out' real killer is someone close

Emmerdale enthusiasts believe they've figured out the 'true' culprit behind the death of Moira Dingle's sheep - and it wasn't her.

The beloved character, portrayed by Natalie J. Robb, has experienced a tumultuous few months in the Dales. Following uncharacteristic behaviour and seizures, she was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

This revelation has shaken Moira and her family, who have gathered around the soap icon, concerned that she is no longer able to handle daily tasks. Despite often appearing disoriented, Moira has been striving to maintain a positive outlook, even though this leads to errors.

However, during Wednesday's episode (October 2), the plot took another dramatic twist. This week, Moira gifted her son Isaac his own flock of sheep, reports Leeds Live. But chaos ensued when Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) and Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb) found several lifeless sheep on the farm, leading to an immediate call to the vets.

Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) arrived on the scene and informed a distraught Moira Dingle that most of the sheep had died and one was in poor condition. Vanessa quickly questioned whether the sheep had eaten from a nearby trough, to which a bewildered Moira confirmed they had and that her son Matty had fed them earlier.

However, Matty was swift to clarify that he hadn't, and that it was his mum who had fed the sheep. Vanessa noted that the sheep had paint around their mouths and upon inspecting the trough, discovered the paint was all over the hay.

Moira quickly became defensive as she confirmed painting fences earlier but was adamant that she wouldn't bring paint near livestock. Despite her protestations, both her family and Vanessa found evidence of paint in the field, which left Moira bewildered and distressed.

Fans fear Mack could have set her up

Nonetheless, viewers are convinced Moira has been framed and isn't responsible for the sheep's demise. Emmerdale enthusiasts have taken to social media to air their suspicions, particularly pointing an accusing finger at Mack.

One fan voiced suspicions on an Emmerdale Facebook group: "I do think it's Mac that has done something the sheep to keep Moira inside." Another fan expressed similar sentiments: "I was thinking the same I think he done it." A third commented: "We thought that. Hope she's not getting set up!" Others suspect that Ross Barton, a character making a comeback, may be orchestrating mischief.

A spectator speculated: "I'm suspicious that someone is going out of their way to get Moira blamed for what they are doing. Could Ross want revenge she did destroy his mother for having affairs with his father."

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
