BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans want 'score defended in a court of law' amid Wynne Evans marking complaints

by · Manchester Evening News

Strictly Come Dancing fans have rushed to complain over Wynne Evans' latest scores. The opera singer and dance partner Katya Jones performed a "beautiful" and bouncy quickstep as they made their return to the BBC One show.

They did small jumps as they performed to the upbeat Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra after the pair apologised for a "silly joke” that saw Katya move Wynne's hand from her waist last week.

The Welsh star, known for the GoCompare advertisements, revealed in his pre-recorded segment of the programme that he and Katya travelled to his home nation’s countryside this week.

After they danced on the live Saturday night (October 19) show judge Anton Du Beke said “it’s a lovely show, when you dance”, while Motsi Mabuse called it “exquisite”, and head judge Shirley Ballas added it was “joyous, you moved beautifully”.

They were awarded 33 points, with Craig Revel Horwood providing criticism, saying the performance was “dishevelled in places”. After his remark, Wynne joked he would be reviewing the judge’s album, Revelations – Songs Boys Don’t Sing, which was released during the week, leading to the judge changing his tune.

But it appears not all viewers agreed with the scoring with Wynne and Katya recieiving two nines from Motis and Shirley, a eight from Anton and a seven from Craig.

Wynne and Katya added comedy to their routine

Alongside a screenshot of the scores, @Ariadne_Reviews said on X, formerly known as Twitter: "I want them to defend this score in a court of law. #scd #strictly." @roscoeleebarnes replied: "The most bonkers score I've ever seen #Strictly." @clfvegan shared: "Disappointed with Wynne on #Strictly tonight! Am I the only one who saw him stumble at one point? And he still scores 9’s! How???"

However, not everybody agreed. @Ellekl responded to the first comment: "Why, it was really good and the steps so good. Are you a professional?" @sequinnedsheep posted: "Wynne is such a good dancer and very funny! Loved his routine with Katya #Strictly." @atvfriend added: "Wynne and Katya Not Wynne's best dance, but he does well to return after last week. It felt stumpy and a bit flat, maybe a loss of confidence but congratulations Wynne you try to the max #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly."
