Third arrest after alleged kidnap of 87-year-old pensioner in Oldham

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnap of a pensioner in Oldham.

The 87-year-old was reportedly forced into a vehicle on Lee Street in Oldham on Sunday, September 15, before allegedly being assaulted and then left on a road in Rishworth in West Yorkshire.

One man, Shohad Miah, of Firbank Road in Royton, has already been charged by police with kidnap, grievous bodily harm and intentional strangulation.

Another man, aged 39, was arrested on suspicion of kidnap on September 22 at an address in Blackpool. He remains in custody for questioning, GMP said.

A third man has also been arrested and remains in custody to be questioned by the Major Incident Team. Specialist officers are currently supporting the victim.

An investigation into the incident is continuing to 'build a timeline of events leading up' to the alleged kidnapping, police said.
