BBC Strictly Come Dancing couple 'will make final' due to 'magical' clue

by · Manchester Evening News

One of Strictly Come Dancing's new couples has already been tipped for the final ahead of the first elimination of the series. The BBC One dance contest officially got underway last weekend with the first live performances of the new series.

All 15 of the new Strictly couples performed live in the iconic ballroom for the first time, but it was just for the judges' comments and scores as it's not until this Saturday (September 28), during week two of the competition that viewers get to cast their votes.

The voting lines opening, however, means that the first dance-off and elimination of the 22nd series will take place during the results show on Sunday night (September 29) after all the couples perform once more.

Among those performing for the public vote will be Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec. The pair got off the a great start in the ballroom with them finishing in joint second place on the leaderboard alongside Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola with an impressive score of 30 out of a possible 40 points.

The reality star, who was Love Island's first deaf participant, appeared on top of a giant coffee cup as she began her performance with Aljaz, a cha cha to Sabrina Carpenter’s number one hit Espresso.

Pro dancer Aljaz was heard saying in their opening VT that it was a "beautiful moment" to see Tasha take off her cochlear implant towards the end of the dance and "just feel one another and just dance together".

But according to a body language expert, Tasha and Aljaz have already guaranteed their place in the Strictly 2024 final. Speaking on behalf of Betfair Bingo, Darren Stanton said: "Tasha and Aljaž have an amazing connection. They’re very tactile, there’s lots of high fives, and a great sense of humour.

"Aljaž is very attentive and understanding, asking ‘what can I do differently for you’. Their relationship appears to be very reciprocal, with great matching and mirroring gestures and eye contact."

He added: "I think these two will definitely make it to the final. The way they move is like one person, that’s the magic I look for in couples to show they’ll do really well. Tasha comes across very humble and is prepared to put the work in. They get on very well, and that is the most important thing."
