RCMP say speed was a factor in a single vehicle crash in Vernon Saturday night that sent the driver and passenger to hospital in critical condition.

The crash happened at around 11 p.m., Nov. 10, in the 2700 block of 15 Street, according to an RCMP media release.

A Pontiac Grand Am was travelling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, left the roadway and hit two unoccupied vehicles before slamming into a power pole.

Fire crews got the two people out of the vehicle and they were taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

RCMP said speed was a factor in the crash and the investigation continues.
