Mumbai Rains LIVE Updates: The India Meteorological Department said on Thursday that Pune reported “133.0 mm as the 3rd highest rainfall ever recorded". This is also the highest for the month of September.

Meanwhile, the IMD issued an “orange alert" for Mumbai City and Suburb on Thursday, predicting “thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and heavy to very heavy rainfall with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph" in the area. Meanwhile, at least four people died amid heavy rainfall and floods in Mumbai, Reuters reported.

In view of the heavy rainfall alert, schools and colleges have been shut in several districts including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad on Thursday, September 26.

Vehicular and rail traffic in Mumbai resumed on Thursday, a day after heavy rains battered the city, inundating low-lying areas, halting local trains in their tracks and forcing the diversion of at least 14 incoming flights.

For Thursday, the Met department has issued a red alert for Palghar and Nashik and an orange alert for Thane, Raigad, Mumbai and Pune. According to the weather department, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Konkan and Goa and central Maharashtra during September 25-27.
