Zamfara Politics: APC mocks PDP over defection of federal lawmaker, Gummi

by · Daily Post

The All Progressive Congress, APC in Zamfara State has mocked the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP following the defection of Suleiman Abubakar Gummi to the ruling APC.

Gummi was elected on the platform of PDP in 2023 to represent the Bukkuyyum/Gummi federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Addressing newsmen in Gusau, the State Publicity Secretary of APC, Yusuf Idris Gusau, said the defection of the federal lawmaker indicated that all is not well with the ruling party.

“We are not surprised that the lawmaker decamped to APC with his teeming supporters because Governor Dauda Lawal is not a politician but a businessman, he added.

According to him, the defection of Gummi will seriously affect the PDP in the 2027 general election because he is a force to reckon with in Gummi and Bukkuyyum federal constituency.

“We will arrange very soon to welcome him officially into the APC fold.

He asked the ruling PDP government to accept the fact that their leaders are not leaders but rulers which he said is not accepted in democracy.

“In a government where only one person will be in charge of everything, that shows no sign of democracy in the system”

“Many party chieftains including public office holders have been sidelined for no reason.

Gusau further appealed to APC supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, saying that APC and PDP will meet at the campaign grounds in 2027 to show the power of political supremacy.
