The DWP is in the process of migrating people on several different benefits and is in the process of sending letters out

Individuals receiving any of five specified benefits are being cautioned that they risk having their support cut off if they do not act upon receiving a letter soon. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is transitioning people from various benefits and has begun issuing letters to those impacted.

Ignoring the letter means the DWP may stop your payments. Tax Credits are set to close in April 2025, prompting the DWP to urge recipients to respond to their migration notices. When the letter arrives, claimants have a three-month window to apply for Universal Credit as a successor to their Tax Credits.

Tax Credits are just one of several benefits being phased out with Universal Credit replacing them. The others are:

• Housing Benefit,
• Income Support
• Jobseekers’ Allowance
• Income Related Employment and Support Allowance.
