Plymouth Argyle defender Brendan Galloway played the whole game as Zimbabwe won 1-0 against Namibia today in Group J of qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Designated as an away game, it took place at the Orlando Stadium in the South African city of Johannesburg but was played behind closed doors at the request of 'home' team Namibia.

Galloway was partnered in central defence by Gerald Takwara, who plays for Al-Minaa in the Iraq Stars League, and the Warriors' winning goal was a 34th minute penalty scored by Khama Billiat.

The Argyle defender missed Zimbabwe's first two AFCOn qualifiers last month, which ended in 0-0 draws against Kenya and Cameroon, due to injury. Their next game is on Monday when they host Namibia, again at the Orlando Stadium, but this time with fans permitted to attend.

Harare-born Galloway has recently been on the bench for Argyle because of the form of the centre-back pairing of Lewis Gibson and summer signing Kornel Szucs, who has been called up by Hungary for the first time at senior international level.

Hungary are in UEFA Nations League Group A3 action tomorrow when they are at home to the Netherlands at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

Meanwhile, Argyle's exciting teenage attacker Freddie Issaka has played for Wales under-19s in a friendly international today. Issaka started in a 3-3 draw away to Italy in Ravenna.
