Colin Farrell Signed Up for Three BATMAN Movies and Will Have 5 or 6 Scenes in THE BATMAN: PART II
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantColin Farrellrecently opened up about his future in The Batman franchise revealing that he has signed up to play The Penguin in three films, and he shared how much we can expect to see him in The Batman: Part II.
The actor told The Hollywood Reporter: "I signed up for three Batman films, but I didn’t know if I’d be in the second film. Matt Reeves is a brilliant writer and an extraordinary filmmaker.
“And what I'm most excited-slash-nervous about in the second film is not what Oz does – or what predicaments he finds himself in, or what moments of success he gets to experience – but what his voice is."
He continued: "How is his personality? It was forming and changing in the limited series, and, by the end of the eight episodes, it's concretized into something else.
“There is a degree of almost delusion psychopathy present in the last scene," he continued. "So how is that taken up in the second film? I was told I have five or six scenes. I don't have any hopes or any expectations.
“I'm really an open book, and that's the way I get excited by shit or not. I think sometimes actors, if they have a career that has a certain length of time, they sometimes get to make too many decisions.
“Which isn't to say I won't push back or argue or fight in Oz’s corner – I do believe I know him better than anyone now."
During a previous interview, Reeves offered some details on the sequel saying: "We've shared [the script] as we've been going along with DC, and they're super excited. It's going to dig into the epic story about deeper corruption and it goes into places [Bruce Wayne] couldn't even anticipate in the first one."
He added: "What was important to me was to find a way to take these pop icons, these mythic characters that everybody knows, and translate it so that Gotham feels like a place in our world.
“We might push to the edge of fantastical, but we would never go into full fantastical. It's meant to feel quite grounded."
While we don’t know what the story for The Batman: Part II will entail, we know that Oz's story isn't over yet and it will play out over the the next couple of films.
The Batman: Part II is set to arrive on October 2, 2026.
