Marvel's WONDER MAN Set Photos and Video Indicate Wonder Man Film Franchise in the MCU
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantMarvel’s Wonder Man project is currently in production and is shooting in Westwood, CA. Today we have some sets photos and a video that have surfaced on social media. We saw our first footage from the series earlier today.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen IIstars in the project as Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man, and it is being developed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Andrew Guest (Hawkeye).
The set photos indicate that Wonder Man is going to be its own film franchise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is kinda fun.
Also, the Wonder Man display includes a town or city surrounded by some sort of Hex like the one the Scarlet Witch put up around Westview in WandaVision.
Cretton will direct the first two episodes. It was already revealed that Ben Kingsley is also set to reprise his role of Trevor Slattery in the series. The series cast also includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Wonder Man, Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams/Grim Reaper, Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, Bob Odenkirk, Lauren Glazier, Courtney Cox, and Josh Gad.
The series will focus on the Marvel character Simon Williams, a.k.a. Wonder Man. In the comics, he is “the son of a wealthy industrialist whose company falls on hard times due to competition from Tony Stark’s Stark Industries.
“As a result, Williams accepts an offer from villain Baron Zemo that gives him ionic superpowers including super strength and durability. After fighting the Avengers several times, Wonder Man ultimately joined their ranks.”
On The Official Marvel Podcast, Kevin Feige recently teased of Wonder Man, saying: “We have a show coming up that we’ve talked very little about called Wonder Man, that I won’t talk about much today either except to say it’s extremely different.
“It’s very exciting to be a part of a company of 25 years or more, and a company that’s been around for 85 years, nestled [within] the Walt Disney Company, that’s been around for 100 years, and still being able to try new things, to take characters and stories to new places. That’s what’s exciting to me.”
