The South Kam Titans have a shot at claiming the top of the mountain on Friday night as their season nears its close.

In their second last game of the regular season, the senior AA high school football club is hosting rival Vernon secondary Panthers at Hillside Stadium — the winner clinching first in the Interior Conference and earning a bye and home game for the provincial quarter finals.

Friday's game will set first and second place in the conference, with the loser sent to the wildcard round.

With so much on the line, and an injury to starting quarterback Cole Rigler, Titans head coach JP Lancaster said his team is relying on its desire to compete in what's forecasted to be a cold, windy and rainy game.

"The 2024 Panthers can do it all. They have a brilliant QB who will test us vertically in quick game and with his legs," Lancaster said of Vernon's offence in a press release.

Vernon head coach Sean Smith said their program has a lot of respect for the Titans, who will put them to the test.

"It seems like every year in recent memory the Interior Conference comes down to us playing South Kamloops for the title and this year's no different," Smith said in the release. "Our offence continues to evolve and I've been happy with our balance and how we've bee able to take what the defence is giving us."

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Hillside Stadium in Sahali and admission is free.
