Kamloops Mounties are searching for a suspect after a brazen burglary Wednesday night in Aberdeen, where an intruder broke into an occupied apartment through a window.

According to police, officers were called to an address in the 1100-block of Hugh Allan Drive at about 9 a.m. for a report of a break-in.

RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said a resident told police they heard a noise and went to investigate, finding their front door wide open.

“A person described as a man with darker skin and black hair was seen running away from the residence,” she said.

Investigators believe the man was wearing jeans and a light-coloured T-shirt.

“The suspect may have gained entry through a window and was last seen running through a narrow concrete balcony leading to a parking lot,” Evelyn said, noting the incident is believed to have taken place about 30 minutes before police were called.

Anyone with information about the incident can call police at 250-828-3000.
