A series of Fisher-Price infant swings sold in Canada for ten years are being recalled in the wake of the deaths of five babies in North America.

Health Canada issued the recall Thursday for the Fisher-Price Snuga Swings, which are available in various models that have differences in fabric colours and toy accessories.

About 99,000 units of the swings have been sold in Canada between 2012 and 2022 while 2.1 million were sold in the U.S.

“The swing should never be used for sleep and bedding materials should never be added to it,” said the Health Canada recall notice. “If the product is used for sleep or bedding material is added, the headrest and body support insert on the seat pad can increase the risk of suffocation.”

As of Oct. 7, 2024, the company has received five reports of deaths involving infants when the Fisher-Price Snuga Swing was used for sleep.

A list of model numbers impacted by the recall is here.

The model number for the Fisher-Price Snuga Swing can be found on the underside of the swing motor compartment. The swings are being recalled across the continent.
