How Trump’s 2024 Election Victory Over Harris A Historic Broadening For The GOP: Steve Forbes
by ForbesTV · ForbesOn “Forbes Newsroom,” Steve Forbes shared his initial reaction to President-elect Donald Trump’s resounding victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
Forbes points to the historic inroads made by Trump within demographics that have historically overwhelmingly supported Democratic candidates.
“It was historic in terms of the breakthrough the Republican Party has made on numerous fronts,” Forbes says.
“Two thirds of Native Americans voted for Trump. 46% of Hispanics voted for Trump, including 54% of male Hispanics, which no Republican candidate has done,” Forbes says, citing early exit polling data. “Trump did better than even Bush on that. 155% of the male vote, 45% of the female vote. And the Asian vote, he won 45%, which was a high for Republicans. So the demographics of the Republican Party have changed.”
Forbes also sees Trump’s Electoral College and popular vote wins as part of a larger trend by voters against “the establishment,” with weariness towards economic and cultural policies. “There's a global turning away from what you might call the establishment, the elites, especially since Covid.”
