This story was updated on October 17th with an early Black Friday sale launched by Samsung.

After giving away a free smartwatch to Galaxy S24 FE buyers, Samsung has once again slashed the price of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The Korean company has dropped the price of its 2024 flagship phone by 20% when the code “TWENTY” is used at checkout. This only applies to shoppers in the U.K. and the promotion runs until October 29th. We’re not far away from the Galaxy S25 release date, which is why we’re seeing repeated deep discounts for Samsung’s current line up of phones.

The "TWENTY" code also works on the Galaxy S24 Plus and the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, but not the base Galaxy S24 handset. The Galaxy S24 FE is also 10% cheaper when the code “NOW10” is used at checkout. The Flip 6 is £100 ($130.07) cheaper right now, but the Fold 6 is one of the few Samsung phones that isn’t currently discounted.

It’s worth noting that there’s an extra 5% off purchases when any of these devices are bought through the Samsung app, using the code "APP5", and at least £500 ($650.36) is spent.

This is a long-running Samsung deal. For wearables, Samsung is giving away a free smart scale with Galaxy Watch purchases and has upped its trade-in prices. The Galaxy Ring stubbornly remains at full price.

Trade-in prices when buying the Galaxy S24 Ultra have not been boosted for this sale, which likely explains the large percentage discount. The most Samsung will handover for your old phone is £490 ($637.35) for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, or £430 ($559.31) for the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max. Neither are trades I recommend making because both phones are still so recent and have years of updates left.

This is a good promotion that knocks a significant amount of money off the upfront cost without a contract, which, for me, is the gold standard of deals. But if this year’s frequent discounts are anything to go by, I suspect Samsung will save its best prices, across its range of smartphones and tablets, for the Black Friday shopping period.

The Amazon Prime Day prices—that knocked up to 25% off the Galaxy S24 range—gives us an insight into how cheap the Galaxy phones will be on Black Friday. Expect Samsung to go all out with discounted accessories, store credit for wearables and enhanced trade-in prices alongside a serious price cut. If you can hold on, it might be wise to wait a few more weeks for the best prices from all major smartphone makers.

Update October 17th: Samsung U.S. has joined in the deals fun with a wildly early Black Friday sale. It isn’t Samsung’s actual Black Friday sale because the discounts are fairly pedestrian, but that hasn’t stopped the Korean company from mentioning Black Friday in the promotion headline.

As I say, the price cuts are decent if not spectacular. The best deals include $350 off the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and $150 off the Galaxy Z Flip 6 if you have no phone to trade-in. Both phones also come with boosted trade-in values, with the maximum amount being $1200 and $650 for the Fold 6 and Flip 6 respectively. To get that you would have to hand over a recent handset from Apple or Samsung, which obviously is never recommended.

Elsewhere, the Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with enhanced trade-in prices up to $750 for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Other, more realistic, trade-ins are well priced, however. The Galaxy S22 Ultra will net buyers $650, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is worth $600 and the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max $400.
