‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ Receives Full Season Order
by Marc Berman · ForbesTwelve seasons for grandparent The Big Bang Theory. Seven seasons for parent Young Sheldon. And now a full first season order for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which in week amassed 10.6 million multiplatform viewers on CBS (according to data from Nielsen).
Young Sheldon, of course, was the prequel to The Big Bang Theory. And Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which follows Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas, was spun-off from Young Sheldon.
“With the resounding success of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, we were instantly on board when Chuck (Lorre), Steven (Molaro) and Steve (Holland) brought us the idea to further explore this world through Georgie’s & Mandy’s First Marriage,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “ The enthusiastic audience reception has demonstrated the enormous appeal of these characters and we can’t wait to see all of the hilarious fun this season will undoubtedly deliver.”
Airing Thursday at 8 p.m. half-hour (into Ghosts), Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has kept CBS in the winner’s circle in the time period. And the anchor support has been beneficial to Thursday 9 p.m. ET newbie reboot Matlock, which was renewed for the full season last week, which in turn helps sophomore dramedy Elsbeth at 10 p.m. ET.
The series is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc., in association with Warner Bros. Television for the CBS Television Network.
