College football odds, picks, lines, bets, predictions for Week 6, 2024: Computer model backs Iowa, California

SportsLine's advanced computer model has revealed its 2024 Week 6 college football picks

· CBS Sports

Alabama passed Texas for the top spot in the latest AP Top 25 following the Crimson Tide's massive win over Georgia last week. Alabama are back atop the rankings for the first time since Week 6 of the 2022 season, and it is the first time head coach Kalen DeBoer has led a team to first place in any major poll. Alabama will try to avoid a letdown performance when it travels to Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon during the Week 6 college football schedule. The Crimson Tide are 23-point favorites in the Week 6 college football odds, but Vanderbilt took Missouri to double overtime as an 18-point underdog two weeks ago.

The Commodores have covered the spread in four of their last five games, but should you back them with your Week 6 college football bets? Other marquee games on Saturday include No. 4 Tennessee (-13.5) at Arkansas, No. 9 Missouri (+2.5) at Texas A&M and No. 10 Michigan at Washington (-2.5). Before locking in any Week 6 college football picks on those games or others, be sure to see the latest college football predictions from SportsLine's proven model.

The model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Since its inception, it has generated a profit of well over $2,000 for $100 players on its top-rated college spread football picks. It also went a sizzling 6-0 on all top-rated college football picks in Week 5. Anyone who has followed it has seen strong returns.

Now, it has turned its attention to the latest college football odds and Week 6 college football betting lines on the spreadmoney line and over/underHead here to see every pick.

Top college football predictions for Week 6

One of the college picks the model is high on during Week 6: Iowa (+19.5) stays within the big spread at No. 3 Ohio State in a 3:30 p.m. ET matchup Saturday on CBS. The Buckeyes failed to cover the spread in their final two games last season, and they have not covered in two of their first four games this season. They have a huge game looming at No. 6 Oregon next week, making this a trap game on their schedule following their win at Michigan State last week.

Iowa can lull Ohio State to sleep on Saturday, as the Hawkeyes have one of the best rushing attacks in college football. Junior running back Kaleb Johnson has rushed for 685 yards and nine touchdowns in his first four games, averaging a whopping 8.4 yards per carry. The Hawkeyes also rank inside the top 20 in total defense, so SportsLine's model has them covering the spread 60% of the time. See the rest of its Week 6 college football picks here.

Another prediction: California (+10.5) plays a one-score game against No. 8 Miami in a 10:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday. Cal is coming off its first loss of the season, falling to Florida State to drop to 3-1. Saturday will be the second time the Golden Bears are double-digit underdogs and they defeated Auburn, 21-14, on Sept. 7 as 12-point underdogs. The Bears have overachieved as a home underdog over the last few seasons though with a 6-2-1 ATS record in those scenarios since the start of the 2020 college football season.

Cal has one of the best defenses in the country, holding opponents to 12.7 points per game, which ranks ninth in college football. Defensive back Nohl Williams has four interceptions in four games and linebacker Teddye Buchanan has 40 tackles, including 2.5 sacks, to lead the stout defense as a key reason why Cal is covering the spread in 60% of simulations. See picks for every other game in Week 6 here.

How to make college football picks for Week 6

The model has also made the call on who wins and covers in every FBS matchup in Week 6, and it's calling for a whopping seven underdogs to win outright, including an upset in one of the biggest games of the week. You can only get every pick for every game at SportsLine.
