Dog killed and man in hospital after pair hit by motorbike on Scots road

Emergency services raced to Chapel Level in Kirkcaldy after the alarm was raised at around 8.10pm on Monday.

A dog has been killed and the owner has been rushed to hospital after the pair were knocked down by a motorbike in Fife.

Emergency services raced to Chapel Level in Kirkcaldy after the alarm was raised at around 8.10pm on Monday. The collision involved a 39-year-old man, who was walking a dog, and a Kawasaki ZR750 motorcycle.

Ambulance crews attended and the pedestrian was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. His injuries were described by medics as "serious but non-life threatening".

Sadly, the dog was killed at the scene. The motorcyclist was uninjured and the road was closed until around 11.35pm to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Tom Aitken, of the Fife Road Policing Unit, said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision and would urge anyone with information to come forward.
