Comedy queen Miranda Hart has left her fans gobsmacked by revealing she got married to a new mystery man, with the pair having said their "I dos" sometime in the past 10 months.

The 51-year-old funnywoman's announcement that she's wed 'The Boy from Bristol', also affectionately known as 'The Mould Man', comes as a surprise given her comedic take on romantic mishaps in her popular BBC sitcom 'Miranda'.

Off-screen, though, Hart has truly found her happily ever after, keeping her beau's identity under wraps but sharing snippets of their romance in her upcoming book, I Havent Been Entirely Honest With You. Admirers pining for a full reveal will have to make do with her accounts of his distinguishing "fine features" and dignified "salt and pepper grey hair".

Hart writes of their unique encounter: "I met my best friend and the love of my life who brings me more silliness, laughter, joy, support, care and safety than I thought possible in a person, because I lost my house due to mould illness and he was the building surveyor on the house remediation project.

"Yes my love was Mr Mould Man/ My Mr Mould Man/ The Boy/ The Boy from Bristol/ The Boyfriend. I haven't been entirely honest with you, he's not my boyfriend, he's my husband. We got married when I was 51."

She further shared the astonishment among her friends when she disclosed her relationship status, reports the Mirror, penning: "Whenever I told any of my friends I had met someone, they all simply paused, confused and said how it's not a high probability with housebound illness and a global pandemic for a knight in shining armour to appear on the doorstep but he did. To de-mould me."

During an appearance on BBC's The One Show on Tuesday evening, to discuss her newly released book, Miranda announced her marriage: "Someone's put a ring on it... I'm married, I got married at 51 and it's just so lovely! I'd written Gary for onscreen Miranda and it wasn't until I was 49 that I met my person.'".

She elaborated: "It's a little undercurrent in the book, I'm not going to reveal how we met because that's a little bit of a twist. He's my best friend, we had the best fun and I'm just thrilled to be a young bride at 51."

Miranda, who has kept her own love life low key until now whilst her character encountered numerous romantic challenges with Tom Ellis portraying Gary Preston in her acclaimed sitcom, has left fans eager to learn more about the man she refers to as the 'Bristol Boy' after tying the knot.
