Fire crews battling flames at Edinburgh flats as smoke seen billowing from window

Firefighters are battling a blaze at a block of flats in Edinburgh this afternoon.

Emergency services raced to Albert Street, Leith at around 1.30pm on November 1, after reports of a fire in the area. The exact cause of the blaze is unknown at this time. Around 20 firefighters, four fire engines and one height appliance were sent to the scene.

Pictures from the scene show smoke billowing into the sky from a flat window. It's not confirmed whether there have been any evacuations or injuries, reports Edinburgh Live.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue said: "We are currently in attendance at Albert Street, Edinburgh. We got the call at 1.25pm.

"We sent four appliances and one height appliance. We are currently still at the scene.“
