McDonald's employee reveals common drive-thru habit which will make staff 'ignore' you

A McDonald's employee has taken to social media to share a common drive-thru customer behaviour that could result in them being ignored - and some people have agreed with them.

A McDonald's employee has let slip a drive-thru customer habit that could see them being snubbed by staff.

Known by the TikTok handle @maccaworkaddict, the fast food worker branded this seemingly innocuous act as "rude". While ordering through a speaker system and not face-to-face can be awkward, there are some things hungry drivers should never do, according to this employee.

Her clip features her grooving to music while a message pops up saying: "You can't keep ignoring the car in the drive-thru because they screamed hello as soon as they get there."

The irritation is born from an alert system that already notifies workers when a vehicle arrives at the drive-thru without the driver speaking. While some TikTok viewers backed her view, others were not happy, forcing her to clarify that her videos are "all a joke" and should not be taken to heart, Dublin Live reports.

The McDonalds worker advised that if customers pull up and staff don't speak, it's fine to seek attention. Reacting to her video, one customer suggested: "How about just saying, 'One second, I'll be right with you'. I say hello because I don't know if they know I'm there."

Jumping into the conversation, another drive-thru employee joked: "Each time they say hello I make them wait another 10 seconds lol."

An ex-Burger King worker empathised: "I hated this working at Burger King especially when this customer be out there sitting there yelling soon as I put the headset on."

Someone else added their voice: "I relate wholeheartedly. I do this, or immediately reply, 'Yes, How Can I Help You?!' making it known I'm irritated."

Meanwhile, a former McDonald's chef has revealed the secret to making the iconic Big Mac sauce at home. Mike Haracz, who worked as a corporate chef for the fast-food giant until 2019, has been sharing his insider knowledge on TikTok, including the secret recipe for the famous sauce.

To kick things off, Mike pours one cup of mayonnaise into a bowl, followed by a 1/4 cup of sweet pickle relish, two tablespoons of Dusseldorf mustard, and one teaspoon of white wine vinegar. Next, he adds one and 1/4 teaspoon of paprika, one teaspoon of onion powder, one teaspoon of granulated garlic, and 1/8 teaspoon of white pepper.

He stated: "All you've got to do is mix it all together. As you can see, there's no ketchup in this recipe. The colour you get from Big Mac sauce is just from paprika. You're going to let this sit for half an hour before trying. This is as close as you are going to get."
