Man arrested over death of West Lothian dad Gary Nicol

Detectives confirmed on Friday that a 25-year-old man has now been arrested in connection and inquiries are ongoing

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Gary Nicol in Livingston.

The 50-year-old died after being found with serious injuries on Bankton Lane around 2am on Thursday, 26 September.

The 25-year-old was arrested on Friday, 11 October and enquiries are ongoing.

Following a post-mortem examination, detectives initially treated the HGV driver’s death as unexplained. However, further inquiries carried out by a dedicated team of specialist officers later led to the circumstances to be treated as murder.

A police spokesperson said: "A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Gary Nicol in Livingston.

The 50-year-old died after being found with serious injuries on Bankton Lane around 2am on Thursday, 26 September, 2024.

The 25-year-old was arrested on Friday, 11 October and enquiries are ongoing."
