This Morning has paid tribute to their beloved contributor Trevor Sorbie, who sadly passed away at the age of 75 after his battle with cancer.

The Scotland-born esteemed British celebrity hairdresser had been a familiar face on ITV's This Morning, where he shared hair care tips. Just a short while ago, he revealed to his followers that the cancer, which was first diagnosed in 2019, had progressed.

On Friday, his team announced with heavy hearts that he had sadly lost his courageous fight with the illness. Trevor chose to decline chemotherapy when told it might improve his life expectancy as his condition deteriorated. He expressed his feelings on an ITV appearance by stating: "I can't face any more of that poison."

In the wake of his passing, This Morning honoured him with a post on its official Instagram handle, writing: "We're saddened to hear the news that Trevor Sorbie MBE has passed away at the age of 75. We were honoured to have him share his story with us a few weeks ago, and send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends", reports the Mirror.

This sombre announcement follows his poignant visit to the This Morning studio some weeks prior, where alongside his wife Carole, spoke to hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard. He shared the harrowing possibility that he "might not make Christmas". He recounted a frightful night when he said: "I lost a lot of blood one night and I was unusually disturbed about that. I went to the hospital and they told me I had bowel cancer.

"I had a little panic attack and Carole and I looked at each other and we were just both speechless walking down the road... I didn't know what to say. I went and had a big gin and tonic and that helped! But then it spread to my liver, I had a six hour operation, but it came back to my liver, had another operation, and now the major [growth] they won't cut it out because it's too close to a major blood vessel."

On Friday, his family announced his death with an emotional tribute on his Instagram page: "It is with heartfelt emotion that we share the passing of our esteemed founder, Trevor Sorbie MBE. Trevor passed away peacefully with his family and beloved dog by his side. Trevor's journey, marked by unparalleled creativity and kindness, has left an indelible mark on the world of hairdressing and beyond."
