A Renfrewshire beast branded “a danger to women” has been caged for seven years for sex attacks throughout Paisley.

Vile Callum Monson was found guilty, following a trial at the High Court in Paisley, of the crimes against six women between 2019 and 2023. Charges the 28-year-old was found guilty of included rape, domestic abuse and sexual assault.

Paisley High Court heard on August 20, 2015, when Monson was aged 19, he raped a woman at an address in Paisley.

On various occasions between August 2019 and May 2021, at two addresses in the town, Monson subjected another partner to domestic abuse. The brute made derogatory remarks to her, took her mobile phone off her and assaulted her during this “course of abusive behaviour”.

The court also heard on various occasions between September 2021 and May 2022, at addresses in Paisley, Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, and Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, Monson again subjected another woman to domestic abuse.

He would shout and swear at her, make derogatory remarks, and also took her mobile phone off her.

Monson repeatedly attended the woman’s workplace and prevented her from seeing friends and family. The creep also pinned the woman against a wall and coerced her into being intimate with him.

On March 5, 2022, Monson sexually assaulted his fourth victim at an address in Paisley while subject to a court order granted at Paisley Sheriff Court on June 3, 2021.

A fifth victim was sexually assaulted by the beast on July 30, 2022 at another flat in Paisley. And on January 7, last year at an address in Paisley, Monson raped another woman while she was sleeping. The twisted creep was subject to three separate court orders at the time of this sickening incident.

On Wednesday at the High Court in Paisley, Judge Sean Murphy KC jailed Monson for seven years and made him subject to supervision for three years. Monson, described as a prisoner of Low Moss jail, East Dunbartonshire, was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period.

Detective inspector Euan McMillan of the Police Scotland public protection unit said: “Monson is a danger to women and he’s now facing the consequences of a campaign of violent and sexual attacks on six women.

“I commend the women involved for reporting Monson’s offending and throughout the legal proceedings. I hope his conviction and sentencing will bring them justice.

“Police Scotland is committed to tackling all forms of violent and sexual crime and I’d urge anyone who has been a victim to come forward and report it, knowing you’ll be fully supported by our specially trained officers and partner agencies.

“There is no time bar to reporting, so regardless of when it happened, know you can report it and we will fully investigate.”
