Who will win Dortmund vs Celtic? Our writers deliver their predictions with goals galore

Brendan Rodgers and his troops take on the German giants in their own backyard on matchday 2 in the Champions League

by · Daily Record

Celtic are ready to hit the Champions League stage once again as they bid to follow up a stunning start at Europe's top table.

The Hoops smashed Slovan Bratislava in front of a packed out Parkhead on matchday one with the home support well known for the atmosphere they create on the big nights under the lights. Another one of those fan bases famous for bringing the noise is Borussia Dortmund with the Scottish champions facing arguably their most difficult test to date this season in front of the Yellow Wall.

Brendan Rodgers and his troops could not be heading for Germany in a better place after hitting St Johnstone for SIX at McDiarmid Park ahead of this one, while Dortmund recovered from falling two goals behind on their own turf to win 4-2. It's an occasion that promises to be one full of drama and excitement with our writers predicting much of the same. Celtic will be underdogs against the Bundesliga giants and Record Sport's top team have delivered their expert opinion on how they see the game going on Tuesday night.

Celtic have the tools to cause Dortmund problems and you fancy them to score in Germany. The really tough part will be keeping them out and it’s hard to see beyond a home win. Celtic are under no real pressure and a strong performance can maintain momentum even if the result is a step too far.

The Germans might be enduring a turbulent start to the season but that may make them even more dangerous. Let’s not forget, there’s a reason they made the final of this competition last season. Celtic, on the contrary, go there with all guns blazing but this is likely to be the biggest test yet for Brendan Rodgers and his new look squad. A point would represent a magnificent result but even that feels like a long shot.

It is a big challenge for Celtic. Dortmund have only lost one game in the Bundesliga. The good thing is that this Celtic are in really good form. They look to be clicking into gear and I can see them getting a morale-boosting point to add to their opening night win.

The Germans haven’t been convincing under new boss Nuri Sahin so this isn’t as daunting a prospect for Celtic as it would have been in recent years and with Brendan Rodgers’ men firing on all cylinders it could finally all come together for them on a Champions League away night.

Celtic’s struggles away from home in Europe have gone on for too long. Battering Slovan Bratislava at Celtic Park is one thing, but scaling the Yellow Wall in Dortmund is a different task altogether. Brendan Rodgers has them absolutely flying though while Dortmund don’t look like the said that went all the way to Wembley last year. It’ll still be tough but Celtic looked much better placed this season to take something.
