Two children and a woman are in hospital after being mauled by a pack of out-of-control dogs.

Emergency crews raced to the horror incident in the Orpington area of London at 9am on Saturday morning. Two children, aged four and six, and a 30-year-old woman were discovered injured.

The incident is believed to have involved four dogs. The canines were brought into kennels after being caught by police.

The Met Police confirmed a woman has been arrested on suspicion of having dogs dangerously out of control and is currently in police custody. As reported in the Mirror, the injuries of the two children and women involved in the attack are not believed to be life-threatening.

Meanwhile, residents have been warned there will be an increased police presence in the area in the coming days. Superintendent Mitch Carr, South Area BCU, said that he understood there will be public concern over what happened.

He said: "I know this incident will have caused a lot of public concern, especially due to the young age of the children injured. Fortunately, it is believed that none of the injuries are life-threatening.

"A woman has been arrested on suspicion of having dogs dangerously out of control and she has been taken into custody. The dogs have also been taken to police kennels while the investigation is ongoing. Extra officers will be in the area over the next few days to provide community reassurance."
