Fire crews race to Scots harbour as nine treated by paramedics

Hazmat-clad firefighters raced to a harbour in a Scots town on Wednesday morning after nine people fell unwell.

Crews kitted out in luminous yellow protective outfits joined police and paramedics this morning at a premises near Montrose docks.

Three fire engines were spotted at the scene and locked down several roads.

Paramedics treated the casualties at the scene - however, they did not require hospital treatment and their condition is unknown.

It is currently unclear exactly what sparked the emergency response.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 09:56 to attend an incident on Meridian Street, Montrose. An ambulance, a resuscitation rapid response unit (3RU) and four specialist operations response teams (SORT) were dispatched, and nine patients were treated on scene.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.20am on Wednesday, 6 November, 2024, we were called to attend a premises in the Meridian Street area of Montrose following a report of a number of people becoming unwell.

“Emergency services attended and the incident was contained. There was no risk to the wider public.”
