Strictly pro Katya Jones and her celebrity dance partner Wynne Evans have spoken out to their followers after a clip from the previous evening's show went viral, capturing an uncomfortable moment.

The footage showed Wynne seemingly trying to place his hand on Katya's waist, which she appeared to brush away, before he attempted it once more. In response to the concerns raised by viewers, the pair released a video where Katya said: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke."

Wynne chimed in with a simple: "Yes sorry."

Wynne also posted a message alongside the video, stating: "Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5's is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones."

Despite the apology, fans seemed less focused on the high fives and more concerned about Wynne's hand movements towards Katya's waist, reports the Mirror.

Amid the controversy surrounding a Strictly Come Dancing pair, viewers have taken to social media with strong reactions. One spectator remarked: "Sorry guys how is that a joke? Ok the refusal to do the high five and the eye roll, yep get that, but the hand slowly moving across Katya's stomach, and her moving it away and looking seriously uncomfortable? ? How is that a 'joke'?"

Another viewer was puzzled: "And the hand sliding across the waist? Was that a joke too? " Much sterner criticism came from another user: "Please leave Strictly Come Dancing... you're making your partner uncomfortable, not cool! ! " Revealing observations continued, as one person noted: "Well mate your body language and eye flicker tell another story. Used to being handsy with women clearly."

Another comment highlighted discomfort: "Yuck, watching his misappropriate touching your waist and stomach when it wasn't wanted is giving me creep vibes. And I am very rarely wrong. Just yuck."

However, not everyone agreed that the incident deserved backlash. Some fans leapt to the couple's defense with supportive comments.

An ardent fan shared: "Didn't see it but you two have a great relationship. Love your dance tonight! ! " While another assured: "You haven't done anything wrong, neither has Katya. This is just normal human interaction amongst two people , with jobless people reading and interpreting salacious nonsense into hand gestures. Keep dancing and have fun."

A further admirer expressed their disappointment in the needed apologies: "Honestly devastated that you both feel you have to apologise. Neither of you have done anything wrong at all. My absolute favourites from week one and your dance tonight was fantastic."
