Man charged over death of John Taylor outside his home in Kilwinning

A man has been charged over the death of a male outside his own home in Kilwinning.

John Taylor, 44, was found with serious injuries on the North Ayrshire town's Pollock Crescent at around 1.55pm on Friday, October 18. Emergency crews raced to the incident but Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a post-mortem examination, detectives confirmed they are treating his death as murder. Police believe the alleged attack on Taylor was targeted, with Police Scotland's major investigations unit probing the case.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday and has since been charged in connection. He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Images from the scene showed multiple police vehicles in attendance outside Taylor's address while a quad bike was left on the road.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: "A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of John Taylor in Kilwinning. Mr Taylor, aged 44, was found with serious injuries on Pollock Crescent around 1.55pm on Friday, 18 October, 2024. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The 26-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 22 October, 2024. He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 23 October."
