Liam Payne's mother is engulfed in sorrow after the loss of her 'baby boy'. Speaking to a family friend, nurse Karen expressed her grief: "I've lost my beautiful boy."

Her only son, Liam, aged 31, tragically died earlier this week from catastrophic injuries sustained after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In another heartfelt expression of loss, Liam's brother-in-law Nick Farnell shared: "We're obviously devastated at the news."

Adding to the tributes, Karen's friend, hairdresser Nick Malenko, reflected on Liam's character: "He was a beautiful boy inside and out. It's absolutely shocking and devastating that such a young and talented life has gone. We are never going to see him again. There are so many tears here, how can we put how we feel into words?", reports the Mirror.

A statement from Liam's grieving family released on Thursday said: "We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."

In a harrowing incident, emergency services including police, firefighters and ambulances were spotted outside a hotel following the tragic fall of Liam. Authorities reported receiving calls about an aggressive man at the hotel, possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A body was discovered in the building's inner courtyard. The hotel manager was the one who alerted the police to the scene. It is believed that Liam fell from a height of around 13 or 14 metres, sustaining "very serious injuries incompatible with life."

Alternatively, spokesperson for the City ambulance service, Alberto Crescenti, pointed out that the victim had dropped approximately 40 metres, suffering "severe injuries which were incompatible with life."

Adding to the details, the local ambulance chief informed TN: "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel. At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation."

An autopsy has revealed that his death was consistent with a 10-metre fall from the balcony of his third-floor room at the Casa Sur hotel on Godoy Cruz Street. The report indicated that toxicological and anatomical-pathological studies of his blood and urine were being conducted to check for any drug traces.

Additionally, the musician's medical history may be requested to assess his mental health history. Currently, Prosecutor No. 16, led by Andrés Madrea, is spearheading the investigation. Deputy Secretary María Florencia Lavaggi is taking testimonies.

The full autopsy results will be disclosed in due time. The Mobile Criminalistics Unit of the City Police of Buenos Aires collected forensic evidence from Liam's hotel room.

They found a bottle of whiskey, a lighter, and a phone believed to belong to Liam – which will now be scrutinised for messages. Fingerprints were found on all items.

They also confirmed the discovery of a white powder in the room, along with medication including clonazepam and energy tablets. Liam's personal notebook and passport have been seized and handed over to Prosecutor No. 16. His body was discovered in an internal patio of the hotel. The hotel manager alerted the police to the incident.
