Shetland is making a comeback on BBC One this week, and the first instalment of the six-part series kicks off with a nervous young man wielding a shotgun, standing over his brother's lifeless body, surrounded by detectives.
Later that evening, DI McIntosh finds herself at a friend's birthday bash where she witnesses a heated exchange between a couple. Their nine-year-old lad confides in the detective about his parents' impending separation.
Before parting ways, the wife sets up a meeting with Tosh, hinting at something crucial she wishes to discuss. However, when Tosh shows up for the rendezvous, the mother and son are nowhere to be found.
