A collision involving two trains in the Talerddig area of Powys, Wales, this evening has resulted in significant travel disruptions. As a result of the crash, Transport for Wales announced that all services between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth have been suspended.

Emergency response teams, including paramedics, fire brigades, and police officers, were dispatched promptly to the site. Dyfed-Powys Police has advised motorists to steer clear of the A470 from Carno to Commins Coch following its closure and to seek alternative routes for their journey, reports the Mirror.

Although there are unconfirmed reports on social media suggesting "mostly minor injuries" with a train conductor and driver sustaining more serious injuries that are said to not be life-threatening, official confirmation from the emergency services is pending.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police provided a statement: "Officers were called to the line near Llanbrynmair at 7.29pm today (21 October) to reports of a low-speed train collision involving two trains. Paramedics, fire and rescue, and Dyfed Powys Police are all in attendance and the incident is ongoing."

Moreover, Network Rail and Transport for Wales have issued a joint statement: "Emergency services are responding to an incident near Llanbrynmair in Powys, Mid Wales, involving two trains – the 18.31 Transport for Wales service from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and the 19.09 Transport for Wales service from Machynlleth to Shrewsbury."

"The line is closed as they carry out their work. Our main priority is the safety of our passengers and colleagues, and we are doing all we can to support the emergency services as they respond to the incident. We would encourage passengers to plan ahead and check journeys before travelling via National Rail Enquiries."
