M8 crash causes traffic chaos for motorists as emergency services race to scene

A crash has caused delays for motorists travelling on the M8.

A crash on the M8 is causing travel chaos for motorists this morning.

Following a traffic incident, the major motorway's eastbound stretch has been blocked. The incident occurred at J7 (Eurocentral) just after 10am.

Emergency vehicles are at the scene although it is currently unknown the number of vehicles and persons involved in the crash at this moment.

Traffic Scotland wrote on X: "The M8 is currently closed eastbound due to a road traffic collision. Emergency services are at the scene.

"Road users are advised to use an alternative route and expect some delays in their journey."

Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
