A teen has been rushed to hospital with a serious head injury after being reportedly jumped by a gang with a bladed weapon in a murder bid.

Two people have now been arrested in connection with the incident that took place at around 6.30pm on October 13 when the 14-year-old boy had been walking on Lodge Lane in Toxteth, near the junction with Coltart Street, and was attacked by a gang.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the teenager was taken to hospital with a serious injury to his head consistent with a bladed weapon being used. He is currently in a serious but stable condition. A cordon remains in place while forensics comb the scene. The local force said CCTV and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the area, reports the ECHO.

Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “We are continuing to investigate and to establish the circumstances of what has taken place. It was a busy time of evening so I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Lodge Lane and seen or heard anything the assault take place to come forward and speak to us.

“I also urge people in the area to check your CCTV footage, or if you were driving along Lodge Lane and have dashcam please review the footage to see if it has captured the incident or leading up to it, no matter how small, as any information may help with the investigation.”

Detective Inspector Carlin added: “While we are making positive progress, we understand the devastating consequences of carrying a weapon and are relentless in our approach to targeting and pursuing criminals. The use of weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have tragic consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved.

“I would urge people to educate themselves and speak to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime. There is no place for knives in our communities.
