Strictly Come Dancing enthusiasts are adamant that there's a significant tension brewing between Katya Jones and her dance partner Wynne Evans.

The duo were caught on camera sharing some awkward moments, including an instance where the Welsh singer, 52, appeared to touch his partner's stomach.

However, the pair quickly dismissed these scenes, labelling any speculation of a rift as "absurd". Despite their denial, viewers remain convinced that there's more to the story, citing visible tension during the results announcement.

Before the results show, the 35-year-old Russian dancer insisted their actions were merely a joke. "I need to make something crystal clear," she started.

"The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was a very silly inside joke between Wynne and I. So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense. It's actually absurd."

Yet, despite her words, fans believe her reaction to Wynne's chat with host Claudia Winkleman on the results show tells a different tale. As Wynne expressed surprise at their progression to another week, Katya maintained a poker face, reports the Mirror.

She even seemed to grimace at one point as the opera singer discussed his performance.

Fans took to social media to share their observations about the pair's body language. One user commented: "Oh dear Katya can barely disguise the dislike on her face for Wynne," while another speculated: "Oh the tension between Wynne and Katya, they will 'leave this week for personal reasons' very uncomfortable to see."

Despite these claims, Katya continued to support her dance partner online.

She shared a post on Instagram featuring action shots from their latest performance and thanked those who were supporting them. He expressed his eagerness to return to the dance floor, and Katya praised him as "incredible".

She also expressed her excitement for their next dance. In a similar post, she said that Wynne "makes me smile and laugh" and takes the dance to another level.

While some stars like Pete Wicks liked the response, others weren't so pleased. One user wrote: "Love you Katya. The body language in the result show was off with you both. Hope you're ok."

Another added: "You are a very talented lady. All is not right between this partnership. Hope you muddle through it. You don't need to be always pretending that things are so perfect, as we all know that doesn't reflect real life. Strictly shouldn't always portray a fairy tale scenario."

The man behind the iconic Go Compare advert tune has previously commented on dismissing a past incident. Wynne Evans spoke to the Daily Mail about their significant age gap, showing admiration for his partner by stating: "She's almost 20 years younger than me, and she seems 20 years wiser than I am. We talk a lot about what's going on in life and what's going on in the world."

He went on to reflect on his personal growth, adding, "I suppose I've learned that I can only focus on myself. I can't control anything else around me. And I mean, I still not very good at that, but I can't control everything around me. I can only control what I'm doing and how I'm doing and how I'm performing and how I'm behaving, and that's all I can really focus on."

The BBC has also addressed the matter, confirming they will not be taking matters further, with the dance duo asserting their puzzling behaviour was part of an undisclosed "in-joke".
