Israel launches massive strikes against Hezbollah in Beirut

Israeli strikes have hit the Lebanese capital's southern suburbs as well as a mosque and school in Gaza. The strikes in Gaza have killed at least 26 people and come a day before the one-year anniversary of the war there.

The Israeli military struck Beirut overnight and into this morning after the Israeli military issued new evacuation orders for several neighborhoods in the area.

Israeli strikes also hit a mosque and a school near the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the town of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, killing at least 26 people.

The strikes on both fronts come as Hamas' deadly raid in southern Israel and the war in Gaza approaches the 1-year mark.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also called for a cease-fire in Gaza.
