Vagabond jailed 15 years for raping female relative

A BANKET man of no fixed abode has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for raping his relative, who was coming from church.

Givemore Mwanza (24) appeared before a local magistrate facing charges of contravening section 65 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act chapter 9:23, which pertains to rape.

He was convicted of the offence on his own guilty plea.

Prosecutors proved that on August 15, 2024, the female complainant, was on her way from church when she met the accused person at Windmill Farm.

As the two were known to each other, they started walking together until they got to an abandoned house where Mwanza armed himself with a log, struck the complainant on the head and she collapsed.

At this juncture, the assailant dragged the helpless woman into the house where he unclothed and raped her. He fled the scene following the dastardly act.

A medical affidavit confirming the sexual attack was produced in court compelling the presiding magistrate to hand down Mwanza a deterrent sentence.
