MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Outperforms Apple A18 Pro in GPU Benchmark

by · Gizchina

MediaTek is preparing to release its new Dimensity 9400 chipset next month, and it’s already generating a lot of excitement. The chipset will feature the Immortalis-G925 graphics unit, made by Arm. MediaTek claims it will be “the highest performing, most efficient GPU to date,” and early tests suggest this could be true.

Dimensity 9400 Outshines Apple A18 Pro: What It Means for Gamers

In recent benchmark tests published by Digital chat station, the Immortalis-G925 achieved impressive results. It scored 134 frames per second (fps) in the GFX Aztec 1440p off-screen Vulkan benchmark. For comparison, Apple’s A18 Pro GPU reached only 72 fps, and last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 hit 95 fps. This shows a significant improvement in graphics power for MediaTek’s latest chipset. Making it a strong competitor in the mobile market.

The GFX Aztec test is part of a larger suite of benchmarks that simulate demanding 3D games. These tests push graphics hardware to its limits, especially when using Vulkan, a high-performance graphics software. The “1440p” part means the test is conducted at a high resolution, which requires more graphic detail. The off-screen test focuses on the raw performance of the graphics unit, without being affected by the device’s screen resolution.

These results suggest that the Dimensity 9400 chipset with the Immortalis-G925 GPU has strong potential for delivering an excellent gaming and graphics experience on mobile devices. However, it’s important to remember that the success of a chipset also depends on how well it’s in use in a smartphone. The true test will come when phone manufacturers decide whether to use the Dimensity 9400 in their 2025 flagship models.

As we look ahead, it will be interesting to see which smartphone brands choose to include MediaTek’s new chipset in their devices. If adopted by major brands, the Dimensity 9400 could set new standards for mobile gaming and graphics performance. But only time will tell how well it performs in real-world situations.
