The Tata Punch emerged as the top-selling model in Tata Motors’ lineup for September 2024. It outperformed Nexon, Curvv, Tiago and others

Tata Motors secured the fourth position in the overall sales rankings for September 2024, trailing behind Mahindra. The automaker recorded 41,065 unit sales during the month, marking a decrease from the 44,810 units sold in the same period last year, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 8.4 per cent. Additionally, compared to August 2024, when Tata Motors sold 44,142 units, the company experienced a 7 per cent month-on-month dip in sales.

In September 2024, Tata Motors achieved a market share of 11.4 per cent. Leading the brand’s sales performance was the Tata Punch, which registered 13,711 units sold domestically, up from 13,036 units in September 2023. This marked a 5 per cent year-on-year growth for the Punch, solidifying its position as the fifth most sold passenger vehicle in India during the month.

The Tata Nexon secured the second spot in the brand’s lineup with 12,289 units sold. This marked a significant 53 per cent increase compared to the 8,049 units sold during the same month in 2023. Meanwhile, the Tiago compact hatchback ranked fourth with 4,225 units sold. This reflected a sharp 38 per cent decline from the 6,789 units recorded in September 2023.

Tata Motors saw the Altroz slip in performance, landing in fifth place in the brand’s sales chart with only 2,758 units sold, representing a steep 59 per cent year-on-year decline from 6,684 units in September 2023. In contrast, the recently launched Tata Curvv EV made a strong debut, taking third place in the lineup.

The Tata Curvv EV and ICE variants combined to record 4,763 units. Meanwhile, the Tigor compact sedan struggled, finishing in eighth place with only 894 units sold, down significantly from 1,534 units in the same period last year, reflecting a sharp 42 per cent year-on-year decline. On the other hand, the Harrier midsize SUV experienced strong growth, securing the seventh spot with 1,600 units sold with a 73 per cent increase compared to the 926 units sold during the same period last year.

Last month, the Tata Safari secured the sixth spot in the brand’s sales chart with 1,644 units sold. This represents a massive year-on-year growth of 219 per cent compared to the 516 units sold in the same month last year.
