BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Tasha Ghouri in tears as BBC interview halted for emotional message
by Sam Cooper, Hannah McGreevy · NottinghamshireLiveBBC's The One Show, hosts Anita Rani and Alex Scott welcomed Strictly Come Dancing 2024 contestants Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec on the latest episode. The Love Island star and her professional dance partner have consistently impressed audiences with their outstanding performances.
During the interview, Tasha discussed her courageous decision to share her experience with online abuse and bullying, which preceded a breathtaking routine that left viewers emotional. Anita and Alex surprised Tasha by revealing that they had contacted her proud parents, who shared a heartfelt video message that brought Tasha to tears.
In the video, Tasha's mum expressed: "The dance on Saturday was just absolutely amazing. I'm kind of lost for words. It was moving, it was powerful and it was so meaningful. And it meant so much to you and so much to us. "I'm probably going to start crying again," she admitted, before adding: "Well done, we love you so much." Tasha's dad added: "Tash, I was already full of pride the second you were born and you keep piling it on.
"The overflow is now tears. With or without disabilities, people can often feel in a dark place. And your performance resonated with so many people for different reasons. Your passion for helping others is admirable,"
You have a very, very special heart. Never change, darling.
"We all love you, Princess and, Aljaz, thanks for everything." Cameras cut to a visibly moved Tasha in the studio, who confessed: "They always make me cry.
"Every single time I see my parents get emotional, it just makes me emotional." Over the last weekend, Tasha and her dancing partner Aljaz scored big, tying for first place with 39 points on the leaderboard with JB Gill and his stand-in partner Lauren Oakley, after Amy Dowden suffered a backstage injury, reports the Mirror.
Tasha wowed the crowd with a powerful Couple's Choice dance to P! nk's 'What About Us', while JB nailed a Bruno Mars Medley. However, Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał found themselves at the lower end of the scoreboard, earning only 22 points.
With equal scores of 29, Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin shared the ninth spot alongside Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell. Pete dodged the dance-off, an indicator of his popularity among the public, but Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe were not as lucky, despite tying for fourth place with 35 points. They went head-to-head against Sam and Nikita, resulting in Sam's exit from the competition, leaving her feeling "gutted" about her early departure.
Adding to The One Show's guest line-up, hosts Anita and Alex also welcomed Mackenzie Crook, known for his roles in The Office and Pirates of the Caribbean.
