Dashcam footage shared by Nottinghamshire Police shows the terrifying moment that sparks flew during a high-speed pursuit. Officers were deployed to pull over a suspected stolen car after it was spotted at around 10.20pm on Saturday, October 19.

But when police turned on their blue lights, the car sped off. Police chased the car down the A46 for several minutes, with gas canisters being thrown at the police from the car's windows.

A helicopter was deployed to track the car as it headed towards Newark, going the wrong way around a roundabout and being stung by waiting police cars, blowing its tyres.

It carried on despite sparks flying everywhere and the wheels stripped to their rims. Police then stung the car a second time and blocked it off in Tolney Lane, where it crashed into a wall.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, theft of a vehicle, possessing a knife in public, and driving without insurance or a licence. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a vehicle and possession of a class B drug.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. Chief Inspector Clive Collings, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a blatant disregard for public safety. The vehicle exceeded speeds of 135mph at one point.

“That nobody was hurt during was down to a mixture of good fortune and the professionalism of the officers involved in this incident, including those who safely deployed stingers at the critical moments."
