Pub slammed for charging £25 for Full English Breakfast - but who's in the wrong?

by · NottinghamshireLive

A Full English Breakfast is a beloved way to kick off the weekend, with its hearty combination of bacon, sausages, hash browns, beans and more. But how much would you be willing to shell out for this classic dish at your local pub?

The Cow Shed in Ospringe, near Faversham, Kent, has sparked outrage among locals by charging £25 for the meal – a price that's significantly higher than the £5 you might pay at a greasy spoon.

However, it's worth noting that this isn't your average fry-up: it's an all-you-can-eat deal promising "unlimited deliciousness," according to the pub's management. Despite this, locals have expressed their disbelief at the hefty price tag.

One resident joked about needing to start a GoFundMe campaign to afford the breakfast, pointing out that two people dining would face a bill of £50. Damien quipped: "Someone has been smoking crack. No breakfast is worth £25, even if it is unlimited. This is Faversham, not Mayfair."

Gem chimed in: "There would have to be bottomless prosecco [included] to justify that price tag", reports the Express.

Some had even loftier expectations, suggesting that for £25, they'd expect someone to cook them "breakfast every day for a week for £25", while others simply labelled the price as "ridiculous."

"Wow, £25, that's a bit steep", another added. It should be noted that there is another Cow Shed located in nearby Birchington.

Every weekend, children under five eat for free and those under 12 can enjoy a meal for half the price of £12.50 at The Cow Shed. Despite the price tag, some customers are eager to try the breakfast, with one person stating they "can't wait" as the "quality is always amazing", and praising the idea of an unlimited breakfast.

The restaurant has received mostly positive reviews online. One TripAdvisor user described the breakfast as "delicious".

Another customer, Laurence, shared: "Visited on New Year's Day for breakfast. This is not our first time here and we returned knowing we would have - 1. A warm welcome from great staff 2. Good quality food at a reasonable price 3. Great location - just 5 mins off the A2 4. Fantastic range and choice. We will be back again when in Kent next."
