'One-of-a-kind' Nottingham mum found at camping site died after taking cocaine

A Nottingham mum whose body was found at a camping site died due to the effects of cocaine, a coroner has said. Tracey Jane Reed, 52 and from Nottingham, was found dead at a camping site in Hawes, North Yorkshire, on Monday, June 12, 2023.

An inquest touching upon her death was opened at Northallerton Coroner's Court on Monday afternoon (October 21) by the Senior Coroner for North Yorkshire and the City of York, Jon Heath. The short hearing revealed that Ms Reed's cause of death had been listed as "1a - the effects of cocaine" following a post-mortem examination.

The woman was identified via fingerprint analysis. A man was released on conditional bail after being arrested in connection with the incident and North Yorkshire Police confirmed no charges had been made.

The family of Tracey released a tribute following her death, stating: "Our mum was truly one of a kind. She was always the light in every room and left a mark on everyone she met.

"Her children and grandchildren were her life and she will be sadly missed by all of us.” The inquest has now been adjourned and will resume for a final hearing at a later date.
