Teenage motorcyclist dies in 'incredibly sad' Nottinghamshire village crash

A 17-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash in a Nottinghamshire village. The teenage boy was taken to hospital after being involved in a collision in Field Lane, Chilwell late on Monday (October 21) night but died of his injuries the next day (Tuesday, October 22).

Nottinghamshire Police officers, who attended the scene alongside paramedics at around 11.15pm, described it as an "incredibly sad incident". The force said his family are being trained by specially trained officers.

Detective Inspector Kate Savage, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is an incredibly sad incident and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones at this distressing time. I would like to commend emergency services personnel who attended and also thank members of the public who stopped to help.

“An investigation is now underway into what happened and we are working to understand the full circumstances. It is therefore vitally important that anyone with any information, dashcam, CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage of the incident gets in touch.

“We are particularly urging any motorists who were in the area around the time of the crash to contact us with any information that they think could help. Any information – no matter how small it may seem – could help us to better understand the circumstances around this tragic incident.”
