Police increase patrols after reports of man taking photos of children at a Newark park

The man is alleged to have followed a group of young people from the park during one incident

Officers will be carrying out extra patrols after several reports of a man taking photos of children at a park in Newark. On Wednesday, October 2, Nottinghamshire Police received multiple reports about the unknown individual taking photos of kids in Barnby Road Park between 5.45pm and 6.30pm.

During one incident the man was reported to have followed a group of young people from the park towards Sherwood Avenue. Another report stated that they saw a man standing on his own and appearing to take photos of the children whilst they were at the park.

Newark Police posted an update on its Facebook page regarding the incident, in which the man was described as being "around 6ft tall, and as having dark stubble and boils on his face. He was also reportedly wearing a navy blue puffer jacket and sandals".

Additional police patrols will be conducted in the Barnby Road area over the next few days to help reassure residents. Anyone who saw what happened or who knows who the man might be is asked to come forward.
