Two men have been taken into custody following the death of a dog believed to be an XL Bully, which was "deliberately attacked" in Slough. Thames Valley Police have confirmed that the individuals, aged 20 and 22, were apprehended at a Berkshire property where officers also found a significant quantity of cannabis.

The incident occurred on September 29, when the dog sustained severe injuries in an attack and despite emergency treatment, it succumbed to its wounds. The arrests took place on Friday, with suspicions of criminal damage, causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, and intent to supply a class B controlled substance.

The 20-year-old was also detained for possession of an offensive weapon. In a statement, Thames Valley Police said: "Officers have arrested two men in connection with a fatal attack on a dog in Slough. The officers arrested the pair, aged 20 and 22, and both from Slough, at an address in the town on Friday."

"The officers also searched the address and found a quantity of cannabis. The arrests were in relation to a dog being deliberately attacked and seriously injured in Burnham Lane at around 6.05pm on 29 September. The dog, whose breed remains unconfirmed but is thought to be an XL bully, was taken for emergency treatment but died from its injuries."

Two men have been released on bail until January following their arrest. A 31-year-old man from Slough was also taken into custody on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug, reports the Mirror.

He has since been released on bail until the new year. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call 101 or contact the police, quoting reference number 43240468625.
